Project: Agricultural Mechanisation and Inputs Facilitation

This is one of our current new projects under development. These are being delivered in partnership with a variety of organisations including charities, social enterprises, private sector companies and government agencies.

Over 50% of Zambia’s work force works in agriculture, however; that sectors productivity is low meaning many farmers and other sector workers cannot make a living that supports their families. The resulting poverty and undernourishment and challenges to overall food security hinders all other development initiatives.

OUR PROJECTS

The project will work with a number of micro-finance institutions and other providers to target farming communities with a range of accessible and cheap financial services that span trade finance, micro-credit, credit, insurance, and investment. This will enable the farmers to obtain appropriate mechanisation and farm inputs to increase productivity. The finance initiative will be combined with training programmes on farm inputs and mechanisation to ensure farmers are able to enjoy the benefits of the programme. The project will also work with providers of inputs and mechanisation equipment to be involved with the scheme by providing their products on good terms.

Expected date: 2023
